I need auto discounts that require 2 prerequisites, is there a workaround for this?

I run a winery and need to have auto discounts for employees to give them a % off certain items but not everything in their cart for example 70% off wine and 40% merch. there was a workaround where you set up a discount for a customer group (i have ones for employees depending on how long they have been with us) on the dashboard then edited it on the iPad app to select for what categories this option seems to no longer work. is there a new workaround for this or is this something that is coming to the system as a whole?

You could set up multiple discounts that allow for each category and group. Then, you can put in new rules. The only thing I could foresee as being a problem is that you only get one automatic discount per transaction? 

If this doesn't fix the problem, I would definitely submit a feature request.

I'm not sure I understand how would I put in new rules? without changing the initial rule (for example I have the 7+ year employee customer group how would I add the wine category on top of that?)
