Your actual device should work just fine, as should your account. Be sure that you have the latest update for the app. Sign in to your Dashboard (squareup.com/dashboard) to verify your banking information, etc.

I have a similar question, will the small square reader still work on credit cards.  I don't want to have to pay for the $50 chip reader if my little one will work.

@CraftsofEmily Your magnetic stripe card reader should work just fine.

However, you are liable for certain types of fraud if you choose to use the older versions of card readers.
