How to keep sales separate by location?

We have 2 coffee shops with a square register at each location. Sales from each shop are showing up on both registers but we want to keep the sales separate by location. Do we have a setting wrong or do we need to have 2 separate accounts? Please don’t send me to the managing multiple locations page, it has not helped to answer my question.

Have you already created a 2nd location in your account settings? If so, make sure your register is logged into the approriate location by going into settings and signing out of the current location/account and re-login with the correct e-mail and password. If you have multiple locations set up, you can choose the appropriate one here and proceed to the POS.

 

If you haven’t created a 2nd location, you can do that by going to your dashboard > account & settings > Business > Locations and add one by clicking on the button on the top-right corner (Create Location). Then follow the first step I provided.

I have created a second location but haven’t been able to figure out how to link each register to its location. I have one email and password. When you say “If you have multiple locations set up, you can choose the appropriate one here and proceed to the POS.’” where is here? When I log in on the register I’m not finding where I can do this. (I got thrown into this kind of blindly, our daughter set the first register up but she’s finishing her last 2 weeks of college and doesn’t have time to walk me through everything or figure it out herself, basically I’m a newbie at the square register)

Hi again!

 

The quickest way to log out of your location/account is to go into settings and scroll all the way down to "Sign Out" and confirm that you are logged out.

 

You will be looking at a Square Register screen that asks for your email and password. If you *have* created a 2nd location in your Square Dashboard, once you log-in you will be shown a screen with the 2 locations to choose from.

 

Another way to force a log out is to hold the power off button for 10 seconds until the system hard reboots and brings you to that same Square register login screen.

 

Hope that clears it up some!
