How to do inventory ?

I have a phone repair business we mainly do wholesale and also fix screens and supply to many shops near my area. However there are some parts that I want to keep track off but I do not sell them.  I just wnat to keep track of the parts comming in and in the back room I have an employee that uses the parts. How can he mark them off with out the trouble of going one by one and marking them off. Just me setting a barcode and he can scan it and it be removed from the inventory with out creating a sale.

Hi @giovannigio360

The only way to keep track of inventory automatically would be to add it to a sale. You can create it as an individual item and keep the item price as $0.00, or you can add it as a modifier and reconcile the inventory manually from your dashboard with the modifier sales report.

If you don't want to add the items to a sale, you'll need to keep track of how many you use each day and edit the inventory amounts manually from the Square Dashboard.

Hopefully one of your fellow Square sellers can chime in with their own workarounds for this.

We are currently having our technicians add "supply" items to a cart with them as the customer. At the end of the month, we comp out the tech carts, which removes the items from the inventory but doesn't affect sales numbers.

It doesn't do a great job of reflecting these supplies in terms of cost of goods sold, but it's the only reasonable way we've come up with to keep track of this kind of inventory.
