How is a credit card saved on file?

The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Credit cards on file

I saw that a customers credit card was saved, is it because they saved it on their end..... or because they've used the card prior and it automatically gets saved?

Hello @Mrclean14! If you didn't add their card to the app or your Dashboard then it sounds like you enabled the option to save a card on file from a Square Invoice. This means the customer authorized you to save the card for future Invoices.

If you're not sure that the customer fully understands that I recommend reaching out to them to let them know about this feature before charging their card again. Hope this helps clarify but if you have any other questions please post again to let me know!

Hi @Helen  So, after the client chooses to save his credit card on file, on the next invoice the client will not need to type all card info again? Please advise. Thank you

Hey @AeriousPlus,

Welcome to the Seller Community! Tom stepping in for Ellen today. From your client's side, they'll need to continue to enter their information in again for subsequent invoices.

Hope this helps clear things up. Keep in touch as we are working to streamline this process for both the buyer and seller! Please let me know if you have any further questions.
