I added my personal events and marked them as busy, however, my clients are still able to book appointments in those slots. How do I fix this?

We may need a few more details, but this would only happen if you placed a personal event after a client booked an appointment. If you do notice that this is happening a lot, please let me know so we can get you in touch with an Appointments Specialist to look at the details of your case as this is not expected behavior.
