How do I set up a promotion that offers a free item, instead of a monetary discount?

I want to offer customers a free item for spending $100+ in giftcards, is this possible?

It doesn't appear so. I know you can arrange your Loyalty program to reward with single items rather than a total value, but not yet with the promotions, I guess.
