Due to the coronavirus I need to be able to use my customers credit card on file to purchase an egift card or a plastic gift card and attach it to their own customer file. What is the best way to do this without asking them to do anything? It is so generous of them but they do not want additional work involved (for my customer). They wish to pay me weekly like this now and use the gift cards once I reopen to pay for their weekly visit.

If a customer already has a card saved on file, all you have to do is add that customer to a sale from the checkout screen in your POS app. When you select either the eGift card or physical gift card to be added to their transaction, you can then go through the normal checkout flow. Because you've already added a customer to the sale that has a card on file in their customer profile, you'll see the option to charge that card on file.
This way, no need to bug them and it's attached to their profile moving forward!
