How do I fix my main banner image?

I'm having trouble with my main banner image. It is huge on desktop view, however it looks perfect on mobile view. I have resized it to be a square and that didn't help. I did look through the search topics but I must not be searching for the right thing, lol. I saw the opposite issue but the steps didn't help. Pics attached. Yes, I have it on the smallest setting on the scale also on the add image feature.

I know you said you have it set to small on the 'Add image' feature, but what is the actual resolution and aspect ratio of the image before you put it into Square? It could also be that your DPI is too high with the image.

My pic is 1001x1500 and my dpi is 120 with 24 bit depth. What size should it be? Thank you for your help!

Hubby played around with the pixels until it worked! Thank you!! He had to make the width crazy high to fix it.
