How do I charge sales tax to different states on my website?

I received an order from outside of my state and saw that it rang up without any taxes applied. When I tested this out myself, it did the same, no taxes on anything if their state is different than mine.

@AnAwkwardSoul Sales tax compliance is very complicated because you have to have tax accounts with all states, collect it and file returns and payments regularly.  Fortunately, there are apps in the Square App Marketplace that will keep you legal and paid up, automatically.  These apps monitor all US taxing authorities and make changes as needed.  I highly recommend using one of them because to do it yourself will be a nightmare, just like doing your own payroll would be a nightmare!  Here’s a link to the Marketplace for “sales tax” — https://squareup.com/us/en/app-marketplace/search?query=Sales%20tax

Davo, TaxJar and Avalera are all trusted sources for this, but there are probably more.  If you aren’t sure, reach out to your tax advisor or accountant for advice.

Best wishes!
