How do I apply a deposit to a final transaction?

I take a deposit to order an item...then how do I apply a deposit as a form of payment? If you do it as an item, it reduces the tax collected by the percentage of that deposit amount.

Hello @Botesandiego

Currently we don't offer the ability to accept a deposit on the Point of Sale app. Although, you might be interested in the Test Partial Payment in the Invoices Request Deposit Beta. This beta allows you to accept multiple payments on a single invoice!

@Botesandiego @Chad, Where you ever able to find a way to apply a deposit as a form of payment?

We currently show a discount to offset the original deposit.  I don't like doing it this way and would like to find a better way.

I too need help applying a deposit as a part of a full payment, since it is a template option for payment through GoDaddy - but there is no explanation that this deposit is the only portion of payment collected. I assumed the full payment would be collected, unless the service was cancelled prior to the scheduled time. Help!

Thanks for the article.

It helps to know this is possible for the future. Unfortunately, this was a poorly communicated design flaw on the part of goDaddy, not Square. If my website was run through Square, I could have organized it this way initially, but since my interface design is thru GD - I’m absorbing the loss and changing the settings. (Not happy about it.)

the design problem was not Square’s fault.
