How can square limit the amount of sales tax to $15.00 maximum?

We are located in an area that limits sales tax on a sale to $15.00. In other words there is a 3% sales tax up to a $500.00 purchase, any amount above that sale amount is not taxed. How can the square system have a ceiling on the amount of sales tax to be charged on any one purchase?
