I currently use a complex Micros system as our POS. I like the idea of square, but am not sure that we could list our hundreds of food and beverage items in a manner that would be easy and logical for our servers to use. How can I review the software and how it works?
you can download it on your ipad and be up and running in a matter of minutes, then you can start playing around with square register and ssee what it can do. all you need is a free account to start and if you like it you can then verify your account and business and use it full time for payment processing.
we have 5 checkouts with square register and ipads in our greenhouse. Love it.
@Niblick50, thanks for looking into Square! Let us know if you have any trouble downloading the app or creating an account to check things out. As @VanKalkerFarms said, you can create an account for free and start looking at it to see if it's right for you. Anecdotally, I can tell you we see a lot of sellers use Square Register with a large menu of food and beverage items.
@Ron, I'm not sure how many items you have, but have anything to add to help out @Niblick50?
@Kpay, I replied to Niblick50. I hope it helps.
Thanks @Ron, great insights from you on items and categories!
@Niblick50, we are a busy lunch counter and have been using Square with our business for almost two years. Square Register has been a big help to our business. We have over 300 different items listed under Square Register. It's so simple, we set up 12 Categories and we have items listed under each category. For example our First CATEGORY is COMBOS and under COMBOS we have our 24 different Combo Selections. Like 1. Hot Dog Combo, 2. Sausage Combo, 3. Cheese Burger Combo, etc. etc. The next Category is SANDWICHES with all our Sandwiches listed under that Category. It's easy to program, easy to change prices, easy to add new items, easy to delete items we no longer sell and easy to train new employees, they simply touch the Category and touch the item they want to ring up. We LOVE Square and are so glad we found them.
