We sell art by local artists and pass the sales straight through to them. However these sales are distorting our average sale, sales against last week etc. Is it possible to put this category (ART) outside of the normal system accounting.
Organizing the sales into a different "Location" might be the best way to account for these sales but not have them affect your businesses bottom line. This has a few disadvantages but I wanted to offer it regardless.
This would require that you log out of the Point of Sale and back into the Point of Sale choosing which Location you'd like to take the payment on. Upside: It will not affect your business reporting. Downside: logging out and back in.
You could always take this payment via Invoices on a different location as well. Invoices are sent from your Square Dashboard and can go over any location. The person receives a link to pay, all this takes only a few minutes to do, and allow them to pay the invoice on that location on their device in front of you.
The third option that comes to mind would to be set up Categories for these sales, and allow your accountant or whomever does your books to take these sales out of your reporting totals. That is assuming you don't just use Square reporting for your booking keeping.
Happy to look further into this with you, and hopefully someone else who has or does do this can chime in as well and offer some ideas.
