So, I see in the Community that it has been awhile since this question was asked. I need to allow partial payments on invoices for our Boy Scout Troop. I see that there was some talk of being a beta tester for this. How did that beta test go and did you get any results that would allow for partial payments on invoices sent via email?
@dconkle, that beta testing is no longer active because the partial payment feature was rolled out in December 2018!
You should be able to request payment for a portion of your invoice upfront as a deposit via email, and set a separate due date for the remaining balance. The instructions for this can be found right here.
What is the best way to set up an invoice for a customer that would like to make partial payments on a total invoice due? Is it possible for the customer to select/customize the amount they would like to pay - or does this have to be set up as an installment payment?

While customers are unable to partially pay for invoices themselves, you can set up installments for them as you mentioned or request a deposit.
