How To Track Multi Visit Discount Passes?

Hi. My wife and I are starting a new business in January and plan to use Square.  Our business will offer daily passes, but we also want to offer discounts for buying multiple passes at once.  So let's say each daily visit is $10, I want to offer a 10 visit pass for $75.  I believe I know how to offer the $75 "product", but then how do I go about tracking the customer each time they visit?  Is there a way to know how many times someone has come in since buying their 10 visit pass, without having to just look up their history and count how many times they've come in since they bought the pass?  -- Thanks in advance.

Hey @adamwoj - Welcome to the Community!

The only way we can track a customer's visit is when a transaction has been processed under their customer profile. Currently, we don't have a feature that counts visits unless you signed up for our Loyalty feature, but this is more if you're looking to apply a discount on their 10th visit and it sounds like you'd rather sell the pass altogether up front.

What you could do is first set up an item for "Visit" that is $0 to check-in passholders. When customers purchase the pass, create a customer profile for them and check-ins for them would look like this:

  • Open Point of Sale app
  • Tap All Customers
  • Search customer name and open their profile
  • Tap New Sale with Customer
  • Select the Visit item that you created and Charge

They won't get charged for the visit since you set it to $0, but they'll receive a receipt that they used a visit while you also have a transaction of the visit. From there, you can check their Visits count within your Customer Directory like so:

One caveat about this approach is that it takes into account all visits and not just the ones since they bought their most recent pass. So if they buy more passes in the future, my suggestion would be to make sure you make a Note in their customer profile on the day of purchase and include the number of Visits they already accumulated so that you can keep count. If they decide not to use the pass the same day of purchase, you would have to add an extra visit to their count to remain accurate. For example:

Hopefully that makes sense! If that's not what you're looking for, just let us know.

Hello,

The business I am asking about has clients who pre-pay for appointments. If the client pre-pays for 8 appointments for example, does Square have a way to say, "Okay, this appointment was 1/8"?

Also, what is the process to get concent from the customer to charge their saved card? Is there a disclaimer they can be shown when entering their info?

Hey @famefitnessgym - We don't have anything that can directly track the amount of prepaid visits a customer has, but I've merged your post with a similar thread where I suggested a possible solution that may work for this above.

As far as keeping a customer Card on File, you must have written authorization from your customer to save their payment card. When saving a Card on File, you'll be provided template form. Click Download Form and you can send it to your customer.
