I'm trying to gain some more customer insight.
Often credit card companies will let you see from credit card data things like zip codes, gender, age, income brackets. Square doesn't seem to show this, nor offer any third-party plugins that do.
I also could do things like send out an email with a link to a form where customers could answer a single question to update our database (like, "what's your zip code?").
I'm not finding any way to do this.... other than maybe exporting our entire customer database somewhere external, and using other tools (like Mailchimp or Google Forms) to update external lists. This seems problematic since then within Square Customer Directory I wouldn't have access to any of the updates I'd added.
Any thoughts on how I can get better insight into our customers?
Hey @WhiteDuck 🦆
Thanks for posting in the Seller Community.
What about using Customer Groups? From there, you can send email or text message campaigns to specific groups. Would that work?
Unfortunately, this customer information would have to be entered for their profile.
No, I'm basically trying to automate collecting additional information. For instance, as we grow, knowing "80% of our current business is from 98210" or "74% of our customers are female" is really useful in both location scouting and marketing.
Right now I can't find any good way to do that in Square, other than like you said - manually updating thousands of customer records as responses come in (a nightmare on labor!).
Whether it's third-party or first-party, some way to expand the info we have in the Customer Directory would be so useful. I know it's possible conceptually, since Square already does that with birthdays (automated campaigns to add birthdays to profiles).
