Exclude a item or catagory from Square Loyalty

I am interested in using square loyalty. I would like to use a percent of the entire purchase. However, I want to exclude a few items as they are high priced annual memberships and I don't want customers to rack up a ton for points because of it. Is there a way to exclude some items. If not, I am afraid I will not be using it. Thanks

Hello @Cwkjk

Yes, you can designate what categories and items are available for your loyalty. When you first set up your loyalty program you will be asked what you do and don't want included.

Here's the kicker: the loyalty is built on what items you do want counted, and you have to do them one at a time. If you only have a few items you don't want counted, there's going to be a lot of clicking. I'd recommend setting up categories for your high priced items (if you don't have them in their own categories already that is) and choosing the categories you want tracked. A lot less clicking.

Hope this helps!

Thank you but, I don't think that helps me. You can do that for redeeming points. but you can't exclude from earning points if you want it to be based on the entire spend.

Hello @Cwkjk If I'm understanding you correctly--and if I'm not I apologize--you're looking for a way for your customer to earn loyalty points on every item except your high dollar items, and then be able to redeem rewards on the same items only?

This can be done!

First, on the Earning Points section, you can choose what items or categories are allowed. Choosing per item/category from this dropdown will allow you to choose what items/categories are allowed. Whenever your customers purchase things from this list on each visit, their loyalty points will increase.

Then, under the Redeem Rewards section, you can create your reward discount. For what you're wanting to do, you will have to choose Discount a Category, then choose all the categories you want to be available for the discounts. Or you can do the items, but again that's going to be a lot of clicking to set up.

If I'm not seeing this right please let me know!
