Enterprise Network - Issue connecting printer to tablet

Anyone using Square on an Enterprise type network? I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab A and Star TSP143III LAN receipt printer. Both are on the same subnet in our facility. I cannot however get Square to see the printer on the network. I'm assuming this is due to our network being an enterprise network (Cisco devices with several VLANs in play etc...) The Square devices are on the same VLAN / subnet, so they should be able to see each. The tablet is connected to our WiFi and our WiFi is controlled through a Cisco 5500 Series Wireless Controller though. Our setup is not just a "router" as most users are and what it sounds like Square thinks you have. Anyone have any success in setting up Square in an environment like this? Before I attempt to buy a printer with web PRINT or Cloud PRINT or just going with a straight USB cash drawer (I don't really need a printer due to us not doing credit cards right now) I'd like to see if anyone has had any success. Square support simply just said to turn off router and back on. That is not an option in a 24/7 running facility; plus that is not the solution. Thanks!

Hey @helpdesk, welcome to the seller community!

Thanks for bringing this up, and sorry to hear about the issues you've been encountering with getting your printer set up.

While the support we can offer for network issues like this is limited, I wanted to check in and see how things are going. Generally speaking, hardware on different subnets and VLANs don't talk to each other unless you have special routing rules in place. If you have your printer and tablet on the same VLAN and subnet, that is the first step in getting them to connect. However, there still can be other restrictions on corporate networks that can block the communication.

I you haven't already, I would suggest running this by an IT professional or Boomtown, who can help with a more in-depth consultation. That being said, if any sellers have other insight — feel free to chime in! 📣
