Hello, I hope all is well.
I was at a fair once selling art, and the internet was used up by the 50,000+ people who attended the various parts of the citywide event. Even sending a text was impossible.
Can Square save the information and then process the funds once it has a good signal again?
Usually if Square sees that there is network connectivity it will attempt to use it for all transactions. If that network is overloaded, you run the risk of getting stuck at the "spinning circle of doom" with the authorization while Square waits for its turn.
Two easy ways to get around this:
- If your Square device has cell service, go ahead and use this and disable the wifi on your device. If not, many cell phone plans will allow you to create a wireless hotspot that you can hook your Square device to.
-You can also enable Offline Mode on your Square device and disable the Wifi. It won't "phone home" on every transaction. Just remember to re-enable wifi once things quiet down so the app can sync the data. Word of warning about Offline Mode: if a transaction comes back declined, you have no real way to recover those charges.
