I am trying to create a discount where when a customer spends a minimum amount, they will receive a specific item free.
How do I do this? I thought I created the correct discount rule but it did not work.
Any help would be appreciated.
@furryfriends To clarify…. Which of these is true?
* If a customer spends $x, you want to “add” an item to their check at no cost.
* If a customer spends $x, you are going to effectively make one of the existing items on the check be free.
Hello @furryfriends thanks for your question. There are many ways to configure discounts, where you can give a BOGO, or percentage/dollar amount discount after purchasing specific items or items in certain categories. However you cannot set a specific free item for a specific amount of spending. This would best be achieved using the Loyalty program.
With the Loyalty program, you set benchmark levels where your customers can earn points/stars for spending a certain amount of money. Then you'll set free reward items that can be redeemed for a specific number of points/stars.

Also please note, there is a difference in how discounts are treated in-person, versus on your website. On your website these are called Coupons. Discounts and Coupons are two different things and must be setup and configured separately.

Thanks so much @HC_Charlie. I realized that after reading discussion posts. I had created the discount on the POS system but not on my online website.
Thanks again!
