Creating Ticket with Contactless/Chip Reader - No Magstrip Swipe

Hello,

The brewery I work for is switching to Square and is using a third party case/stand that utilizes the charging port and covers the headphone port. We are using the contactless/chip reader but have run into an issue where we are unable to pull information from the chip reader to start a ticket. Is there a way to use the chip reader to pull that information so we do not have to type in the customer information for each ticket we create? Or is there a workaround to use the magnetic strip reader wirelessly?

At this time, Square doesn't support the auto-collecting of credit card or customer information when saving tickets. Square has the Card on File option, but you have to create the customer and link the card to them manually before you can add them to the ticket.

Right now the "easiest" way around this is to hang onto the customer's card. Not ideal, but it's what's there right now unless you have the time to create the customer.

This request is something we all have been beating up Square about for quite some time. Hopefully soon there will be a change!

We are looking for a super-fast way to get a ticket created as well. We do know that every driver's license has a barcode on the back of it that has the customer's name and date of birth on it.

We would love to be able to hit create a ticket, then be asked what table and select from a grid of numbers, then scan the driver's license to fill in first and last name - then hit save to be taken to the POS selection screen.

Is this possible? We do know of a bar code scanner that does this and more and would love to see it integrated - if Square cannot - into the Square environment:
