Connecting both Square Reader and Square Terminal to same POS?

Hi,

I'm wondering if it is possible have both the reader and a terminal connected to the same Square POS in Square stand?

Why might you ask?

Well, as we operate a busy bar, its not always possible for the person paying to get to the POS, often we pull the reader quickly from the charger and lean over another part of the bar so they can tap their card.

I would like to connect the reader so that those who actually pay in front of the POS can see their charges etc, this will be like 80% of sales.

Why cant you just hand the terminal over to them you ask?

Well its a bar, people are clumsy and have drinks in hands etc, so the terminal will be fixed to the counter/bar top on a small stand.

So now you know my scenario, do you think we can connect both devices?

Ok, I'm answering my own question again 😉

Should have tried it first. The answer is yes, when you enter a sale the first thing that happens is the Square reader goes in to the mode to accept a tap, then on the POS you press to 'use terminal' or similar text and the sale is then transferred over to the terminal, there is about a 0.5 second delay here before it appears on the terminal, something which I don't like, especially in a busy

environment where many sales are being take in short period of time.
