Connect to microphone

I have an iphone with out the headphone jack. I have the adapter but I keep getting a message that says I need to allow access to my microphone. I follow the steps but there is no request for access when I do.

Go To Settings icon on your phone then scroll to the bottom and click on Point of Sale.  There make sure everything is turned on.
