I have this reader (https://squareup.com/shop/hardware/us/en/products/chip-credit-card-reader-with-nfc) but it is connected via bluetooth to an iPad. It is always plugged in so it shouldn't go to sleep. But it keeps disconnecting from the iPad. I reconnect it, and it disconnects in a couple of days.
I know that the Square Stand has a hardware hub that can connect to this reader via a cable. Is there a way that I can do this to connect it to the iPad directly via a cable without the need of the stand?
@dessertarizona I would do a search on that big ole retailer online for "
I have not tried this directly with the reader, but you should be able to usb the usb port to connect to the reader. I use it on a kds system to connect to a tv through HDMI to mirror the screen. This device will charge and power the ipad along with the hub if it is plugged in.
If you need a really mobile solution this would work.
Thanks for the suggestion. Do you think it'd be able to charge the Square Contactless Chip Reader as well through the USB port of the hub?
I have encountered this thread:
Generally, using a Square Stand and the hub (https://squareup.com/shop/hardware/us/en/products/square-stand-power-adapter-usb) the chip reader can work wired. Various people have tried bypassing the Stand and have not successfully gotten the hub or other USB hub working/recognized.
I tried using an Apple Lightning USB3 camera (https://www.amazon.com/Apple-Lightning-USB3-Camera-Adapter/dp/B01F7KJDIM/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3FT84ENPEPN...) as well as a Sabrent Powered USB hub (https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Individual-Switches-Included-HB-UMP3/dp/B00TPMEOYM/ref=sr_1_4?crid=6A...but the chip card reader failed on being detected.
I don't think there's a direct way to connect the chip reader to an iPad and getting it recognized without the square stand and its hub.
