I create my classes as an event item in my online store. I need to keep track of my participants/customers for each class in case of cancellation or any changes to the class. The easiest way I have found to do this is to handcopy their name, phone & email address off of the orders as I receive them. My classes sell slowly over a period of weeks or months, so this is tricky to keep track of over time, cumbersome to write out and prone to mistakes in hand copying.
I would like to have an option to search and sort my orders by a specific class/event and then create a report with customers name/phone & email. I sell other items besides classes, so my classes are all mixed in with the rest of my orders.
The other event option that you could help me with is: When my customers purchase a class I want their receipt to show the date & time of the class they purchased.

Have you by chance set up your Customer directory? By doing so, you'd be able to store customer information. Check out this handy guide on how to manage all the abilities the customer directory has to offer.

I checked out the customer directory and yes, this is helpful, but has one glitch. I can create a list of customers for each class by using the item filter in the customer directory, this provides me with a list of each customer who purchased the class. Then I create a group for each class and can export all the names, emails & phone #'s. This is great.
The glitch is that I cannot see if customers purchase more than 1 class. I often have the same customer purchase 2 classes (one for themselves and one for their husband/wife/friend etc), and this does not show up in these reports. Leading me back to needing to track the info myself one by one as the receipts come in since I need to know the number of classes each person purchased.

Hello, I'm very new to Square. I'm looking at the Customer Directory & there are several names with info about what they ordered & how much they spent but there isn't any contact info. How can I collect email, phone and/or addresses at checkout? Is this a form that has to be completed at the time of the sale? I was anticipating that some of this info would auto-populate when payment was given.

Welcome to Square and the Seller Community! We are happy to have you. I would make sure you have customer engagement turned on in your settings of the app. Once that is done then at the end of the sale you can add your customer to the directory:
If you’ve completed a sale and haven’t tapped New Sale yet, you can still add your customer’s contact information. To do so:
1. From the receipts screen, tap Add Customer.
2. Enter your customer’s information > tap Save.
If you need to edit the customer added to the sale:
1. From the receipts screen, tap View Customer.
2. Make your changes or tap Remove Customer from Sale > Confirm.
