With my current software we have the ability to take product cost out prior to calculating commission. For example, if a hair color costs $100 and the product to do the color costs $10, my system takes the $10 out and processes commission rates on the $90 in profit. That way I am not pay commission on expenses.
Can Square accommodate this? All I am seeing is flat rate or tiered rate, neither of which account of the product cost?
@frost I am not in the hair industry but have you thought about just including a commission in the cost of the item? I know this might not be ideal, but otherwise you would have to show the cost of materials and cost of the service separately.
Just a thought. I will look into it some more as this is interesting.

Hi Donnie! Yes, however, it's more beneficial to both the salon owner and the artist to take cost out and disperse a commission on the profit made.
Square developers we really need an option to pay commission on gross profit or even see a report with gross profit per transaction. I realize there are tons of factors in the cost of goods but item cost is the most important and we enter that info, so why can't it be calculated in a report so we can pay commissions accurately????
