I want to run my POS system on my cellular plan, so there won't be traditional wi-fi from a cable provider, just the cellular connection on the IPad. The peripherals would have to connect via Bluetooth rather than wi-fi, but is that possible?
@MizMae, Absolutely! Thats exactly how we are set up, works flawlessly.
Thank you! Any recommendations on which iPads work best for this setup? I read on the Square website that Bluetooth connections for peripherals are not supported on Androids, so I'm looking at the iPads now.
@MizMae, if you want to use the Square Stand with your iPad then I would get a iPad Air because I believe that is the only Square Stand available now. If not using a Square Stand then all the newer Ipads would be fine.
As @Ron said it works great with cellular iPads.
In addition, about using a square stand and iPad Air 1 is that you can use USB printers and barcode scanners as there is a USB hub with the square stand that you can use a usb cash drawer, USB barcode scanner, & a USB receipt printer to.
I’m a little confused. If I purchase a square stand to use ith ipad air 2 cellular, can I buy a usb printer to connect to stand and will it work with cellular ipad? Or would i require a bluetooth printer?
Thanks.
Hi @Lila17
The USB Printers will absolutely work with that setup since the printer will be plugged directly into the Stand Accessory Hub.
Bluetooth style printers are needed for sellers who only use an iPad (no Square Stand) since there's nowhere to plug a USB Printer into the iPad itself.
Thanks so much for your reply. I haven’t been able to get a straight answer even from resellers. That explains why it will work. Square up help article info says it will work with a square stand but not an ipad with no square stand and I wasn’t sure why and with all differing experiences I wasn’t confident.
