Buy one get one free

Does register pos software have the capability to do buy one get one free transactions? I need it to recognize items when they are scanned and discount the 2nd item 100%. If this is possible will it also allow mix and match BOGO? Whereas if I scan 2 different items that are the same price will it recognize the 2nd item and discount it 100%?

I'm sure I can add a 100% discount manually but I need it to be automatic when multiple items are scanned.

currently, there is not an automatic option, though it sounds like it should be getting closer for automatic bundle/qty discounts from a few of the posts. 

for now, you need to discount it manually.
