Automatically apply a discount to a specific Item category for a certain customer group?

We have several different customer "types" and would like to be able to apply a percentage or dollar amount to a specific item category but only for a certain customer group; Is this possible?

An example would be, our employees get a higher discount on certain items than our walk in customers do and we were excited bedcause we thought Square would allow us to set these peramiters so the discounts would be automatically applied but so far all we can find is a setting that requires each transaction to be manually discounted by selecting each item and then choosing the discount to apply.  

In addition to Employee pricing we also have a Friends and Family price discount as well as a Military price discount and we would like the system to allow us to choose a discount for each item category for each different price groups that we have and it flow through automatically to the transaction.  Please tell me this is available and if not currently that you are about to launch an update that allows for this type of price managment.....  Thanks

there is not a way to automatically apply a discount based on amount or customer.  Discounting is a feature that is under development but has no release date or specific features yet.

This is from 4 years ago and it's STILL not a feature? How is that possible? I need to be able to assign item specific discounts to a specific group.

It is now a feature and has been for awhile.

I actually have my 28 oz candles setup like this when a person picks-up 13 of my 28oz candles, they only pay for 12 and get the 13th one at a discount of the price of the candle or in simple terms buy 12 get 1 free (Bakers Dozen).  Also had it that when any of 3 of my 16oz jars were bout they were at a discounted rate.  That was a few years ago.... think they were $13.99 each   2 for $12 each or 3 for $11 dollars each.

That actually is not what I need. I need a discount to be available for a specific items, say 4lb cat food, that is only available to my frequent buyer program group. 

As of now, I can do the discount on the one item, OR, a discount on all items to my frequent buyer group. But I need to be able to assign both at the same time.
