After I create an item and input the size, why does it show up as variable?

I am NOT setting up an online store. This is just in my items list for the register. When I input a size on the create item screen, why does the size not show up in my list? Instead it says "variable". At this point I have just added the size to the item name, but I would rather not be doing this.

Hi Tony! 

When you create items with variable sizes, only the actual item will appear in your Items Library list. 

When you select the item for a sale, you'll then be prompted within the app to select which specific size you're adding.

Hi.  I created an items list for my photography with over 200 entries.   I have been updating it all along.  Now, my items list does not show up on my Mac.  The categories are there but the items with all the prices and sizes does not show up.  The items list shows up on my Ipad but not on my Mac.  Can you help?
