I've got Square running with BigCommerce as my web store. I realized that all inventory adjustments need to be done in BC to sync to Square. The issue is that BC does not have any type of reason codes for why inventory adjustments are made. I have requested this as a critical update to the inventory management on their end. However, I was thinking that if Square has a way to edit an inventory adjustment made from BC, such as being able to select the reason codes already in place and/or being able to add a comment that would show up on an inventory adjustment report, that would also be of help.
I own a winery, and as such, the alcohol industry is highly regulated. Both federal and state agencies want us to be able to account for every drop of wine produced, sold, damaged, donated, etc. So, I'm really not asking for this just as a convenience but as a necessary inventory management tool for our business. I'm sure there must be other alcohol retailers using your services, so this would be of benefit to all of us. 🙂
@DeanaFerris While you can add a reason for stock actions from your Square's online Dashboard, you're right, those adjustments (or other inventory adjustments) won't sync with BigCommerce at this time.
To give you some background information: When an item is sold through BigCommerce using Square, the online payments are not inventory-tracked because they are sold as "Custom Amounts" and not as the actual item.
I'm sorry to hear that Big Commerce doesn't have reason codes yet but I'm really glad to hear that you've already contacted them to request it! I'll also share your experience with the Product Team at Square who can take this into consideration as they improve and develop the integration with BigCommerce. It's also definitely useful to know that you're winery and why this is important to you, thanks for including that information!
