Resources - Choosing 2

Hi! Question for you Square Appointments Pros ❤️

 

Question 1

I have a service that we offer for 2 people at a time because we have 2 chairs. How do I set it up so the service chooses both resources, not just 1 or the other resource.

 

For example, we have a teeth whitening room that has 2 chairs. People will book their appointments together (Service name: Teeth Whitening for 2). So I would like these 2 chair resources to be blocked off when they booth this service.

 

Question 2

How do I set up the services so 1 staff member can take two of these type of appointments at the same time or overlapping?

Question 1 - You can create resources like rooms, stations, or chairs and assign them to services that require them. When those services are booked, the resources are automatically reserved to avoid double bookings when a resource is unavailable. You can learn more about creating, editing, and assigning resources with Square Appointments here.

 

Question 2 - With Square Appointments, you can create staff members and assign specific services to them. Check out this article for more information on adding and managing bookable staff.

Question 1 - You can create resources like rooms, stations, or chairs and assign them to services that require them. I have read your response over and over, as well as the links to information about resources and staff.  However, I don't see how this solves the original goal.  The the goal is to allow a customer to choose a service which will book 2 resources at the same time.  I have been trying to solve this for myself but I'm starting to think it is not possible. 

To clarify the use case:

  1. prospect wishes to book a "double" which will require two chairs and two team members.
  2. a dedicated service exists i.e. "double whitening" which, when the prospect selects it, will present the user with all time slots where both resources and both team members are available.
  3. when the prospect selects the service & time slot, both resources will be booked and both team members will be booked and notified.

When setting up a double service, one chooses resources.  Choosing 2 of 2 resources is available, but the header in the dialog says "1 of 2 resources will be reserved when Regular is booked."  If I look into variations and select resources there, the header says the same thing.  

 

n.b. the instructions claim "When those services are booked, the resources are automatically booked at the same time" but that is not at all what I am seeing. (yes, i have premium appointments)

 

If a valid solution exists in your answer, I apologize - I just cannot see how this works.

Salt! Josh here with essentially, the same "Multiples of Customers have a single registration point/ transaction, being reserved via Appointments  AND ensuring the appropriate resources are dedicated to, AND NOT AVAILABLE for other customers to also book later" issue. I haven't figured it out yet, as I have been super aware of this problem for about 5 years but decided to "punt" it to manually registration for all multiple resource required services. My "rock" in this enterprise has just informed me they and their partner are moving to be closer to help during a difficult time. I mention it because I do have a few weeks to more thoroughly understand EXACTLY how my jam currently works vs. how it could potentially be modified if needed to find a fully-digital solution of my operation that ends with answering anyone on a phone call with,

 

"Hapy to provide the available times for service X, but, so you know and for your convenience if you have to discuss this with other parties, I am using our Online Booking Tool to give you the dates. While I won't be able to "hold" any of the dates I mention as available for you, do know that whenever your group is ready to book, every piece of information I can provide to you will come from our booking site where you could also visit, select, and reserve without un-solicited background stories, from me:)"
