While Black Friday is a hot time for customers (and myself) to purchase what I need in bulk at a reduced price, I notice less and less enthusiasm in the market every year.
It used to be one day only, sales start at midnight.
Then, it was a few days long.
Then, it was a week long with 10% always on the websites year round.
And, I will admit, the administrative work x marketing spend to create a promotion for a day is not worth it for my business so we run our promo for the month.
What are you doing for promotions this holiday season? Anything special?
@Bronze_Palms, I definitely hear you.
I don't own a business with Black Friday deals, but I have noticed as a consumer that there really are deals everywhere anymore around Black Friday, so the enthusiasm may be a bit different nowadays. I can imagine you would have to go to quite a bit of extra effort to get all those Black Friday deals started too, so that is a really great idea to have a promotion that runs all month long.
In the meantime, good luck with all of your Holiday preparations and sales! As usual, please let us know if you end up needing anything from Square, and we would be happy to assist.
We've definitely seen this too we don't do Black Friday but do a Small Business Saturday event and last year was super frustrating because people came the next week and were like - oh where is the big sale...............and we were like you missed it......but I think all of the corporate giants running promos weeks to months ahead and extending them over and over has given folks the mentality that small businesses need to jump through all of those hoops as well. I hear ya @Bronze_Palms 💚
I have the best luck on weekend sales
Our current business doesn't lend to BF sales... but our new one will participate in SBS next year. We will have some kind of event, I just haven't figured out what yet since we're not open. Although, I do have a running list of a billion other things I'm going to do with it next year... so....
I usually start with Pink Friday, then Black Friday, and last Small Business Saturday. I usually have a deal that changes every hour til it's back to full price. Now that I'm in the mall I don't know what I'll do. Black Friday for me now is my new shops birthday.
We typically run a killer sale 20% off from Black Friday through Cyber Monday- and then we'll run a "panic" sale the week before Christmas- the same 20%.
