BC Canada appointment times wrong after November 1

Because of British Columbia no longer changing time from daylight savings back to standard time in November my appointments are all an hour later than they should be starting November 1st. I really need this resolved asap but when I asked support they just said they were working on it.

i’m not sure what to do in the mean time with clients starting to book that far in advance

I am trying to follow your suggestion and there isn't an option to set the timezone to Vancouver.... Is there supposed to be?

Hi there, B.C. business over here with up to date app, the issue is still not resolved for me. Current date is September 30.

I thought this was resolved, then today a client received a text with the correct time but the email that came through was with the incorrect one. Also, there is no timezone labeled Vancouver. There is only one labeled Pacific time zone that could be correct. Please advise.

It should be MDT, not MST. Let’s keep the information correct so they can fix the problem.

oops sorry my bad ya it should be MDT. Do you see CST for the confirmation email and text as well?

actually, this is what I found so it should be MST for November which it does show up like that on my end but my clients text confirmation says CST

Calgary is currently on MDT (Mountain Daylight Time, UTC-6), but will switch to year-round Alberta Time (ABT, UTC-6) in November 2026, effectively staying on MDT permanently and ending the switch to MST.

Time Zone Details

  • Spring and Summer: MDT (UTC-6), which is used right now.
    • Fall and Winter (Historically): MST (UTC-7).
      • Upcoming Change: Starting November 1, 2026, Alberta stops turning clocks back, remaining on UTC-6 year-round.

Yes, UTC-6 MDT. My confirmations still say CST.

I am having all the same issues, I’ve had to shut online booking off. Manually confirming all appointments after Nov 1st. I’m having my clients write down there appointments from that date forward just in case. The app isn’t working and the emails are also not working correctly. But my machine does work with the correct time. So I’ve been booking with that only. Hopefully this is fixed soon.

The appointments are showing differently between the ap (andriod & apple) the desktop, the POS and google calendar. Repeating appointments are moving some an hour ahead, some an hour behind, and some are duplicating. When customers are canceling their appointments some are still showing up. We book usually 6-8 weeks out. I cannot be adjusting a time zone starting November 1st when we are already well into booking that month. And then going into Christmas?! I need to ensure no one is being double booked and that my staff are on site for the proper times, not an hour early or late. I have confirmed all the time zones are set correctly, all of the versions are now at 7.26, so another one past the push, when is this actually going to be fixed? This service is not cheap and now it is failing.

W are in BC and our bookings are OUT TO LUNCH all over the place. Says 11 on our computer, clients text says 10, the clients email says 12, on our business phone it says 10. This is wreaking absolute havoc for our small business' reputation and day to day operations.

The customer service is absolutely disgusting from Square.

On top of time zone failures which have necessitated our business to buy a paper book and paper reminder cards, we also owe the federal government THOUSANDS of dollars in GST remittance that Square hasn't charged on services which we've confirmed with Square are properly configured to be charging GST. Furthermore our Square system is attributing services from one category to providers from another category. Again, we have been told all our settings are configured properly.

so...we can't book, we can't sort sales by provider for payroll purposes, and we can't properly charge clients with taxes added.

What are we paying for and how is this NOT an illegal scam????? Disgusting.

Hi everyone, thank you for continuing to share what you're seeing, and I'm sorry for the extra work this has caused while you're booking into November and the holidays.

I've gone through every reply here with our Appointments team. To confirm, Square Appointments has been updated to support time zone changes in British Columbia and Alberta. Some appointments taking place on November 1, 2026 or later may have been saved or displayed one hour off.

Some of you may have already received an email from us with the steps below. Here they are again for everyone:

  1. Update your Square app and device software to the latest versions. It should be 7.28

  2. Check each affected location's Time Zone setting in Square Dashboard (Settings > Locations). Select Pacific Time Zone - British Columbia (Vancouver) for locations following Vancouver time, or Mountain Time Zone - Alberta (Edmonton) for locations following Edmonton time. Don't use the Los Angeles or Denver options. They match B.C. and Alberta until November 1, then they're an hour apart. If you switched to another time zone as a workaround (such as Yukon or Saskatchewan), please switch back.

  3. Check the time zone on devices used to manage appointments, including phones, tablets and Square devices. Confirm each device uses the Vancouver/British Columbia or Edmonton/Alberta time zone, as appropriate.

  4. Review appointments taking place November 1 or later, including repeating appointments. If a time is incorrect, edit and save the appointment, and confirm the intended time with your customer. Updating your software and settings won't automatically correct existing appointments, so please review your bookings.

A few things you raised

  • "CST" in Alberta messages: CST was the correct time for Alberta after November 1, but we know the label was confusing. Since October 1, reminders use Alberta's new time zone label, "ABT".

  • Google Calendar showing a different time: Until very recently, Google Calendar was using outdated time zone information, so appointments added to it, whether by you or your clients, may show an hour off. Your Square texts and emails should both now show the same time.

Still seeing something wrong after these steps? Please reply here with the following and we can look into it further:

  • What you're seeing (for example, the text and email showing different times, or repeating appointments moving or showing up twice)

  • The date it happened, and which app, device or message it was in

  • A screenshot, if you can, with client details hidden

There were a few folks who share that repeating appointments showing up twice and cancelled appointments still on the calendar, GST is not being applied correctly or services are being attributed to the wrong provider — those are all separate issues. When you have a moment, please feel free to start a new thread with details of what you are seeing, applicable screenshots, devices you are using and anything you can think of — I'll be happy to investigate those too.

Changed everything to Alberta time and have updated all my devices and it’s still a mess. I run a waxing studio and have upwards of 15 clients a day, this is hugely aggravating and is already causing double booking issues.

I am so incredibly disappointed with Square! How incredibly unprofessional. Ive been on the phone with them over and over again, no answers, no fixes. Just again and again telling us to check your time zone. Our time zones are where they are supposed to be, it's still out to lunch. Im so close to cancelling services with them. How can they not figure this out?! It's been weeks, and nothing. Appointments moved all over the place. Having to explain to every client that their confirmation text will be the wrong time. Makes our business look so bad and is making our schedule a disaster. This is going to cost small businesses so much money, time and cause them to lose clients.
