BC Canada appointment times wrong after November 1

Because of British Columbia no longer changing time from daylight savings back to standard time in November my appointments are all an hour later than they should be starting November 1st. I really need this resolved asap but when I asked support they just said they were working on it.

i’m not sure what to do in the mean time with clients starting to book that far in advance

Having the same issue

I have reached out to them, and this was the response I got back... "Let me kindly inform you that we already got an update for your situation with the time zone, we checked this directly with the advanced support team and they tol me that Alberta's new law ending daylight saving time changes is affecting your appointments times from November until March that is the reason why it is changing, so they are suggesting you wait because you will be able to change those times until November once the daylight saving time starts." I've asked them to escalate this further, because it's actively affecting my bookings and I cannot wait until November for this to resolve.

When I book an appointment for 10 AM, the reminder text sent to my client says 9 AM. I also just tested online booking - when a client books for 12 PM through the booking link, it shows up on my calendar as 1 PM. I really hope they get this resolved soon.🤞

Yeah they don’t seem to understand how much this is affecting us. I changed my business time zone and phone time zone to yukon mountain time. And made sure clients can’t choose their own time zone when booking. That seems to have fixed my issue but very annoying to have to do

Their response: "I apologize for the inconvenience with the daylight time savings I already double checked and in this case the workaround that we can suggest you in to do a one time change from November to March to avoid it affects your appointments and availability."

So to summarize: Square's answer to a daylight saving time bug affecting appointments and availability is... manually switch a setting twice a year, forever?

There's also a gap this doesn't address: even if I switch manually, that only fixes things going forward from when I make the change. Between now and November 1st, appointments booked past November 1st are still being booked incorrectly in the meantime — so the "workaround" doesn't actually solve the immediate problem, it just stops it from getting worse later.\

I'm not an engineer, but this reads like a timezone/DST handling issue on the backend... the kind of thing that should be fixed at the source, not offloaded onto users as a recurring manual chore. If anyone else is dealing with this, it might be worth flagging your own case too so it doesn't get treated as a one-off.

Wow they are unbelievable. I have been so disappointed with square’s customer service on multiple occasions now, I’m seriously considering using a new company.

Honestly, same! Have you found another platform you'd consider? I used to use Fresha when it was free and loved it. I ended up switching to Square because POS seemed easier, but I am considering switching back to them if this doesn't get resolved.

I’m also having the same issue and haven’t gotten anywhere with them. This is a huge problem considering any appointment booked in the “future time zone” will have the wrong confirmation time sent.

Also having this problem. Would it work to change it to Saskatchewan Time Zone for Albertans, as that is what our time zone will be on effective Nov 1st?

Has anyone found a way to fix this yet? Or is it just going to rectify itself on Nov 1?

Hi everyone, thank you for reporting this and for your patience while our team worked on the update.

We have updated Square Appointments to support British Columbia's new timezone rules. Please make sure to check and verify that each of your B.C. locations is set to Vancouver timezone. If you temporarily changed a location to Yukon or another timezone, please make sure to change it back.

When you have a moment, please review your availability and appointments scheduled for November 1 or later, including confirmations and reminders, to confirm that the times are correct. If you notice any other discrepancy, please let us know.

For Android users: the fix will be rolled up in the latest Square Appointments app update, which should be available to everyone on September 10. After this date, please check and make sure you've updated your app to version 7.24 or later

Thank you again.

I am not on Vancouver time as I live in Cranbrook, BC.  I have mine set to mountain time (Alberta) and it works until November 1 where the texts confirmations come up as CST though the appointment times are now right.
This is really frustrating.
