✨ Welcome + Introduce Yourself

You made it! Welcome to Square’s togetHER community 🙌

Our purpose is for you to find connection, advice, encouragement, and community with fellow women in business and allies. This community is built for and by you, so make it your own.

First step: Introduce yourself in this thread! We want to get to know each and everyone one of you here. Stuck on how you should introduce yourself to other lady bosses? Here are some things to cover: Tell us who you are, what you’re working on and what type of business you own. If you have an online store, feel free to share with the group!

Our guiding principles

We all want productive, friendly conversation propelling us forward. Keep these in mind when posting:

  • Share actionable information/material. We want this group to provide advice and actions that you can implement immediately to improve your business. Give context when asking questions and be detailed in your responses. Post about the difficult things so we can figure out an answer together as a community.
  • Assume good intent. Tone on the internet is very difficult to convey. Let’s assume that everyone posting here comes from a place of good intention, so we can do the same. If anything feels amiss, please report it to our moderators.
  • Treat your fellow sellers with respect. We all come from different backgrounds and may not always agree with one another, but we can always treat each other with respect. We have a zero tolerance policy for harassment or abuse of sellers or moderators because this should be a happy place on the internet.
  • No spam or excessive self promotion. We’ve all seen those groups with the same people posting the same thing every single day. Let’s respect each other’s time and refrain from this type of excessive self promotion. But, by all means, when it’s time to celebrate you, shout that accomplishment from the rooftops!

Can’t wait to see your posts and celebrate you! 🎉

Hi all,

Rather than post a lot of stuff here, if you visit my Yelp site, you will learn quite a bit more.  Just check out the "About the Business" section.

Hello, My name is Jeanette Owner of Creations of the Heart Art.  I retired from the military after 20 years and I wanted to have my own business.  I am also a retired ELL teacher after 19 years.  I taught ELL, Spanish, and Art.  I make personalized items for all occasions. Customer service is my passion.  I love creating customized frames, and jewelry. I have been in business since 2012.  I am a veteran small business owner.  I am new to all of this online.  I usually go to vending events in Mansfield, TX to sell my merchandise.  you can find my videos or online products in two places.  www.facebook.com/creationsoftheheartart and www.Creations-of-the-heart-Art.com

I love that Square has these communities because sometimes I have questions about so many things and I feel so alone.  so I love to learn about other businesses out there where we can share and help each other.  thank you for welcoming me to this group.   Have a blessed day.

Hi Helen,

Thank you for the question.  My top customer service tip is communication. Because I make all items at the point of order. I send pictures to my customers of how the progress is going and pictures of the finalized product, I also send pictures of the mailing label when I mail the purchases to them so they know what to look for in the mail.    My customers send me a message when they receive their products and then they write their reviews on my page.

Jeanette

Hi Helen,

I couldn't agree more. Customer service is all about communication, the two coexist. Customers are a bit more understanding whenever there's is open communication.

My number one customer service tip is let your customers be part of the process.  for example. I make the personalized vintage clocks. I send my customers pictures while I make the clock and finally, I send them a reveal video building up their suspense. this actually works and they love the results. they are my customers and i treat them with respect and kindness.  they love for you to listen o them speak., even if it has nothing to do with the product. be friends first, before selling and they will be repeat customers.  I have been in customer service for over 25+ years and my relationship have proven tobe true and it works.

Hello.  My name is Carey and I am a seasoned business owner.  Been self-employed more than 35 years, have owned nine different businesses.  Currently working on purchasing our 10th.  Never purchased a turn-key business, always opened my own, so this is a new experience.  We have been in heating and air conditioning for nearly 25 years thanks to my husband's education and serious skills.  I have owned several other independent businesses outside of our two businesses in this field.  I've had a wide range of experiences - I've been a professional seamstress and designer and worked with several direct sales companies, as well as the two HVAC businesses, in addition to working jobs in between.

We live in Montana, US, have 6 kids and currently have 16 grandkids.  We travel a lot and we're always busy.  There's a lot going on in our world but one of my favorite things has always been to help someone else with a suggestion that I've learned from experience.  I'm looking forward to see what questions are out there!
