Unable to activate my account

hi, I have bought a square reader 2nd generation a week or so ago, and tried to set up my Square account today. It’s for a sole-proprietorship retail account as Im trying to sell art. When i put all of my information and it tells me that I can take payments, it brings me back to a message saying my account needs to be activated. Ive done this 10+ times now.

My square reader also won’t connect to my phone, despite it being listed in the “connected devices” section on the Square app. Every-time it tries to connect, a popup with the message “account needs to be activated” appears. Ive tried setting up my account on phone, ipad, and desktop, nothing has worked.

I need this to be resolved as soon as possible. Ive sent an email and Im trying out the square community here, please let me know what to do ASAP.

From what I can see, it looks like our Account Services team has requested some more information before card processing can be activated. 

 

Usually you receive an email regarding these requests titled something like “Additional information required”. 

 

You can also find the information requests following these steps: 

  • Go to Account & Settings
  • Click your Business name in the top-right corner.
  • Select Account & Settings.
  • Look under Business Information
  • Then look for "Information Requests" 

If you still are having trouble, let me know and I will try to troubleshoot further!
