Squares policy of theft

I have used square three times now. With total aggregate sales of $224. Square had no difficulty in receiving my funds, but now they won't pay it out to my bank. How is this on any planet not theft. I have spent two hours documenting all the requested information to a website which shows errors consistently. They have a month-long freeze on my account after having which used their debit card for security purposes outside of their platform. This is obviously had a domino effect. I am switching to PayPal and planning to go to small claims court. Beware do not use this service ever!!!!!

Hey there @Skiptracer.. I think you might be jumping to unwarranted conclusions here, re: Square's alleged theft.  A few facts might be in order here.

Based on your screen name, I assume you are involved in skip tracing.  If that is the case, then more than a few of your business activities fall into Square's list of unsupported activities.  Square is restricted -- by the card brands and by law -- from processing transactions for companies that are involved with debt collection activities, identity theft, credit protection, for example.  So even if those are only part of your business, even one of them would mean Square would not be allowed to process your transactions.  And if Square later determined you fall into one of these prohibited categories, they would then be required (again by law) to suspend your account and hold funds.  If Square doesn't do this, then they could lose the privileges for all sellers who use Square.

More than likely, it wasn't Square who initiated this suspension, but rather one of the card networks.  They are constantly monitoring transactions Square sends to them and when they see something they don't like, they immediately notify Square who is required by its contact with them to comply pending investigation.

You should have received email notices that something was going on.  Those emails would have told you how to proceed.  If you don't see them, check your junk/spam box.

Lastly, if my interpretation of your screen name here is off base, feel free to explain what your business is.  I might be able to help you.  But, if I am right, even PayPal won't be able to help you.  You would need to get your own merchant account with a bank.  All card processors like Square are under exactly the same restrictions.

Skip tracing is a former profession. I am 71 with Parkinson's at this point. And the only activity they may have found unusual was that I was asking for my money. Dress this up anyway you wish to but YouTube seems to be filled with other people in my shoes. Stop supporting the criminal!

I figured you weren’t asking for help. Sorry I tried. I, too, am an old man. I just tend not to see everything as a conspiracy. I feel sorry for those who do. Be well in your conspiracy-induced misery. Oh and relying on YouTube testimony is never wise.

Furthermore, I would not have contacted the Ohio state's attorney general's office and the better Business bureau in Ohio if I weren't trying to resolve this situation amicably, but also expeditiously

Besides your comment about that they,'s legally required to withhold your funds is a laughable assertion.. government sanctioned theft I don't think so. I am just a guy who had a yard sale and put money on my own account. Now they won't pay it out or return it that is the very essence of theft

The theft was by square itself. And please stop apologizing and reiterating how frustrating this must be. Neither of these returns my money this really is the only issue that matters
