Square Allowed A Fraudulent Account To Be Linked To Mine And Seized Money From Me

Earlier this week I received a text which I thought was spam and ignored which stated that I had a payment dispute.  Since I hadn't heard anything about it via email I ignored it and moved on.

 

Fast forward to today and a sale for almost $300 gets deposited into my account but only about $100 of it was actually making it to me. Which made me look into the matter a bit more and I realized that square really was taking money from my account for something I hadn't done.

 

I received an email stating to dispute the claim I would have to respond with the business info from BOTH of my businesses. However, I only have one business and ONE square account.  The account has never received any type of payment dispute.

Update to anyone who cares.

 

I'm working with the customer representatives through email.

 

They are forcing me me to jump through hoops.

 

I had to pay $16 to recover a business document which I didn't have just laying around in order to prove that it is actually my business.

 

Not sure why the burden on proof is on me to prove that I own my own business when I did nothing wrong but ok.

 

Today I received an email from an account representative claiming he can't see where they took the money. I responded with a few screenshots which prove that an excessive amount of money was taken from a payment I received. (There was only supposed to be $9.80 in fees however I received an extra $164.32 surprise)

Let's hope they help me out here and don't play ignorant.

 

Once this is over I'll never do business with square again.
