Selling Raffle Tickets - Australian Not For Profit

Hi there, after having read Square T&C's and the Prohibited Goods & Services list I am still in the dark about selling raffle tickets through Square.

Specfically, we are a Not For Profit sporting club conducting what the NSW Government call a "Draw Lottery", which we do not need a permit to run (and this is straight from the NSW Government laws website around raffles).

Can you please clarify for me whether or not we can sell raffle tickets using Square? As a NFP raffles are a massive portion of our income, and as we are abiding by the law I believe we should be able to.

Thanks

Hi Arie and all,

After calling customer support it is deemed that we cannot sell raffle tickets through Square, as they are a "Prohibited Item".

I find this quite silly, as a Not For Profit Association we are well within the law to sell raffle tickets, but for some reason Square T&C's prohibit it. Potentially this is something that can be reviewed into the future, particularly as more and more NFP associations come onto the Square platform?

Raffles for most NFP Associations are a day-to-day part of operations, its one of the quickest and easiest ways to fundraise and support our operations.

For now, we will continue with our existing EFTPOS provider for all sales, until such time Square allow us to process all transactions.

Regards

Hey @NASC-INC,

Per my response to your other post, I'm not actually able to speak to why any given sales are prohibited / not prohibited on Square's platform. Sorry I can't be of more help here. I will pass your feedback on to our team.

Hi Seamus,

Understand you can't speak about that, but do appreciate you passing on the feedback (which was all I was looking to happen for now).

Hopefully sometime down the track common-sense prevails!

Regards
