Refund with no receipt or transaction

Hello,

 

We are using a Square POS with our iPad and our Square Stand in our shop. We are selling many beverages. Each time a bottle is sold, there’s the price of the article + an article named « Bottle deposit ». The article « Bottle deposit » is refunded to the customer when they bring it back but some doesn’t bring back the receipt. So I was wondering if it is possible to refund an article without a receipt or via the transaction tab (negative price article maybe?).

Hi @Gagnon! Thanks for joining the Community.

 

 If you're using Square Stand or POS, you can look up the transaction by entering the full card number or swiping the card. But if the customer comes in without the card, the only other way would be able to do a "process of elimination" and narrow it down to when the original transaction was taken. There's not a way to  refund a transaction without starting from the original.

 

You may want to consider creating customer profiles and adding customers to your sales. That way, you can always go back and search a customer's transaction history if you need to in cases like these.
