Issues applying for Hardware Financing

The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: No one at Square wants to sell me hardware?

 

I have been trying for three weeks to purchase/finance installments for a new square hardaware Point of Sale system. I keep getting a message that says “Can’t verify identity”. No emails after I have tried the application for installments a few different times over the past week. I have chatted with  support (probably an ai bot) and get dumped out of chat almost immediately. I have called customer support twice in the last two weeks. On lady sent me an email that she had forwarded my issue on to the “hardware team” and I waited a week and never heard back. I called again a few days ago and sat on hold with a customer support rep who was thoroughly confused, kept putting me on hold to ask someone else for help, then finally said she wasn’t able to reach anyone in hardware to help, but would send me an email in 15min with an answer. Never received the email or got a call back. (Checked my spam and nothing). So how in the world does anyone actually get their hardware on installments?

Hi @Trespinosfarm 👋 My name is Violet and I'm one of the Moderators here in the Square Community. I'm sorry the hardware installments process has been giving you some trouble. Additionally, I apologize for the experience you had with our support team. I have escalated your feedback for review.

To reiterate what @Candlestore said, make sure you're using the same information you used to create your Square account to apply for the hardware installments. For example, you should be using the same email address you use when you log into your Square account.

Please note: Square hardware financing is not available in Alabama, Delaware, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire or Tennessee.

I hope this information is helpful, but please let me know if you continue having issues with this. I'll keep an eye out for your reply.

So it seems you have 2 issues going on.

  1. Not being verified
  2. Not being able to finance Square Hardware.

Lets look at these one by one.

Being Verified is the BIGGEST issue I believe you are having.  You need to be verified for Square to sell you the Hardware and also for you to take Payments through Square.  The issues usually with this are if you have a Business Checking or EIN number and also your Personal SS# and Bank Accounts.  If you gave your Personal SS# and used your Business checking account, the EIN number for a Business account would not Match your SS#.   So Square gets the Defaul you can not be verified.  Stops you from creating a Square Account.  Now since you do not have an Active Square Account, you would not be able to get the installments on the Hardware.  Call Square Support, numbers in my signature below, and see if they can help you with what is wrong with your Square application and fix that.  Once that is approved and you have your Login information for Square.  You can go your Square Dashboard, on the Bottom Left there is More From Square, select that, then on the New Screen you goto Hardware and you should be able to buy from there.  I am not sure about Installments or how they actually work through Square.  I know when I went to buy Hardware there would be offers, but its been awhile.

Thanks. The way the online application works is they ask for my social and not my EIN.  I have called that support number you listed a few times and no one seems to be able or willing to help.  I will just keep trying.

If you use the Wrong number according to the Name you listed, it is throwing up red flags with Square.  I agree that the terminology to signup with Square could be and should be worded better.  Square was more designed for people selling items as a owner and not having business eins which is why its worded that way.  Times are changing and so should the wording.  Since you brought up buying hardware, I am wondering if no one wants to help you as, you can not buy hardware not being verified.  I am just another business owner so I do not and cannot see what is happening in your account.  Which is why I receommend callin the Support number and see if they can see or cancel your previous application and apply in a few days or something. 

Not sure if a Moderator here in this forum can help but I will see maybe they can give you better advice.

Thanks. That makes sense. We have been using Square for the past for years at our little roadside farmstand and for our online shipped products. I really don’t want to have start all over again from all the inventory we have put into it. I see a lot of other brick and mortar businesses in the city use Square terminals, so I was hoping this would work in our new farm store.

Thank you. I used the same email as my account. Same everything. However the form asks for my personal social not an EIN. I’m in CA so that shouldn’t be the issue either. Just frustrating to not even be able to reach a salesperson. I submitted a sales request months ago and after never being contacted (I am probably to small of potatoes for them) I tried the online process myself.
