Embedding buy button in wordpress

File this under have my cake and eat it too but....

  • we have a wordpress site and happy with all the features, especially the plugins: store locator, events calendar that we need for our business.  (our site is kricklewoodfarm.com)

  • we have shopify buttons embedded on the site for on-line sales

  • we use square at events and to run credit cards using the virtual terminal

  • we have set up a square store front, both the original and new & improved.

  • the original store front worked ok but lacking basic features like adjusting shipping rates

  • the new and improved store front is better but not sure if I can add store locator, events calendar features without paying extra (shopify apps are free for minimal use, once you pass the threshold you pay $20 or so per month per app).

So.....long winded post to say, I would like to use my wordpress site with buy buttons using my square account.

I don't think they do, but maybe I didn't look in the right place, fingers crossed... does square offer code to embed buy buttons into wordpress and other website formats.

Thanks in advance.

Hello again @kricklewoodfarm!

It sounds like you've been trying and testing out a lot of the current eCommerce options! I will say that the new Weebly Powered Square Online Store has better shipping options, but it doesn't currently have the other features you mentioned like a store locator or a calendar feature. (There is embed code section, which you can use to add embeddable widgets in the meantime.)

Have you looked at the WP EasyCart plugin? It looks like you can create 'Add to Cart' buttons for your existing Wordpress site. Or have you already tried this out?

Hi Helen,

Thanks for your feedback.  We did try the WP easycart and the free version is pretty limited so not really an option.  I did set up the new square store through weebly and found it very cumbersome to edit.  For example, I chose a theme at the beginning and wasn't able to try out other themes once decided.   I tried searching and was not able to find much support.  You should be able to try out different themes on the fly which you can do with wordpress, shopify too.

I suspected there was no way to embed into wordpress so I guess we'll stick with shopify for now.

Hi again Dale. I suspected you had already tried out WP Easycart! 😔 I'm sorry to hear the new Online Store editor wasn't as smooth an experience as you expected either. We're continuing to improve the new Online Store and we announce new features in the Product Updates section of the Community. I hope you'll check in over time!
