Where can I set the order in which my services show up?

We are using square appointments and I'm having a hard time finding where I can edit the order in which our services are showing up on our square appointments listing. I've found a number of threads in these community forums but they all seem to be outdated.

 

I can find all the services and the order they are supposed to be in on this page: https://app.squareup.com/dashboard/appointments/booking/channels

 

However, even when I change the order on this page, it doesn't get updated on our public facing booking page.

 

As feedback, it's rather hard to find these and it's frustrating that re-ordering them in the back-end doesn't get reflected in the front-end. Any help is appreciated.

 

EDIT: there's also this page, but it shows up as blank. There's nothing for me to click on. Also no error message. Seems broken: https://app.squareup.com/dashboard/appointments/booking/display_options

Hi @Erik29 ,

 

I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with the ordering of your appointment services.   Although I freely admit that I'm a "light user" of the Square Appointments, I have read your issue and went to check what your error descroption, and I think something is wrong.


I am also seeing inconsistent behavior in the appointment view and setup that you are describing.   Here is the "Edit Service Display" link -

When I click the "edit service display", I get this order -

When I click the "view" though, I get this order, which matches what happens on my own website, but does NOT match the ordering function -

I'm 95% certain this is broken.  I'm not sure who on the Appointments team this should be sent to, so I'm going to link a couple who I think can point this issue in the right direction.   @isabelle @nika  can you verify this is a bug, or point it to someone on the Appointments Team that can verify, or explain what's happening here please?

@nika thank you for looking into this!

 

Is there any workaround we can use in the meantime? Like simplify our list? Remove categories? Since the services aren't organized our clients may be confused as they try to book the service (for example having a regular haircut with shampoo, and a haircut without shampoo, being listed next to each other helps them pick the right service).

Hi @Erik29 ,

 

I have NOT come across a workaround per se, as I think the order is in the order they were created.

 

With that being said I did just get a beta update, but I have seen no indication that this is fixed. I'll see if I can check that out later today and if it appears fixed I will definitely drop it in this chat.

 

I feel pretty confident though that if engineering is looking at it that they will probably get it fixed here at some point.

 

@nika do you happen to have any news on this?

Thanks again for helping get to the bottom of this @SVLFever and @nika 

Is there any way to make our services more straight forward to get them to show in the right order? Or should we delete all services and recreate them in the order we want? 

We get some comments from clients that they have a hard time picking the right service or didn't see that there was a better option (as they aren't grouped together). Any help would be appreciated.

We haven't seen an update from @nika , so I'm guessing you are the issue still exists, yes?  Maybe an update Nika???

 

But yes, I think what you are proposing is the workaround as of now.  Hope it works for you temporarily at least.

Hi everyone, this issue still exists for us. We really need some help as there's nothing on our end that seems to work. It feels like a pretty clear use case where the order we dictate in the back-end, doesn't show up correctly in the front-end. We are getting a little frustrated as this is costing us business (in terms of hurdles in the booking flow). 

 

Can this be escalated somehow? I reported this in May and have had zero traction in terms of a solution.

Hey everyone. So sorry I missed this thread. From the bug I reported back when, the team had said everything was resolved. Apparently not! 

 

Clarification- are you trying to reorder your services from the POS or Dashboard? If from POS, then everything appears to be working properly. But let me know for sure.

I don't remember where I did the changes because the rabbit hole of a menu to get anywhere. Shouldn't it changed everywhere when you edit? For my Glow Up service, it is not supposed to be at the top. I think I changed it in 2 different places

@jettethorson yes- the order changes should be reflected across the board no matter where you make the edits from. Since that's not happening for you, I'm going to file a ticket with our team and have them look into it further. I'm so sorry you just joined us and you're starting off on a bad foot. Hoping to bring you some relief and answers soon!

I was making changes in the Dashboard (on a desktop browser) on this page: https://app.squareup.com/dashboard/appointments/booking/channels click 'Edit Service Display'

 

It is now working for me after I changed one item and hit save again. The order is now correctly reflected on our booking page. 

 

Thanks again Nika for getting this resolved for us. Our booking page looks much much better 🙂

Yeah I hope someone figures this out soon. I just started with Square a couple of weeks ago and I feel like I'm just going to call the whole thing quits and start with something else. Aren't things hard enough? Help chat is also the worst
