Why won't my item scan properly? I have multiple items correctly logged in with the SKU #. When I go to scan it it with the Square Retail app, my phone says "item not in the system", but the SKU matches exactly. How do I fix this?
Sometimes if you enter say 1234 as a SKU and your Phone may scan 1234... so you think they are matches but actually the SKU in Square might be 1234_ where the _ is a blank space or the phone might be putting a Blank space after the Barcode scan showing a different value. Double check what you have in the system and what your phone is scanning. I do not know what your barcodes look like but I know Square reads S and s the same where as a phone may not read them the same also. Same for anything that is not a number or letter. I tried putting in the & and Square reads that as a 7 (shift and 7 is &) This threw my ability to scan barcodes I made.
Now if they match exactly try going into your Items on your device if this was a newly added item, sometimes it takes time for the hardware to update with the Back office. By going into items and looking for that item, it seems to update the device then that you are using. I had this happen after entering new items on the computer, but they did not show up right away on the Square Stands.
