Terminal Will Not Power On

I received my square terminal, started watching the video and tried to power it on, and it won’t power on?  Any suggestions?

If your Square Terminal won’t power on, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

 

Charge the Device

  • Plug the Square Terminal into a power outlet using the included power adapter and cable.
  • Wait at least 15-30 minutes, especially if it’s the first time powering on, it may have arrived completely drained.
  • Make sure the charging cable is firmly connected to both the adapter and the device.

Try a Force Restart

  • Hold the power button (on the left side of the Terminal) for at least 12 seconds.
  • If the screen stays black, keep holding a few seconds longer, sometimes the reboot takes a moment if it’s unresponsive.

Look for Signs of Life

  • Even if the screen stays black, see if you can feel any vibration, sound, or if the screen lights up dimly, it may be charging slowly.
  • Try a different power outlet, and avoid power strips during troubleshooting.

Inspect the Hardware

  • Check for any visible damage to the screen, port, or cable.
  • Make sure the charging cable is the official Square USB-C power adapter (3rd party ones sometimes don’t work properly).

If you’ve tried all of the above and the Square Terminal is still unresponsive, it may be:

  • A defective unit (rare, but possible)
  • A dead battery that isn’t accepting charge

I have the same problem I have two of these devices and one works.  The other one does not come on.  I left it on the charger for hours Then tried holding on the power button for up to about 30 seconds at times.  No power, no sound, no vibration.  I've tried multiple charging cables and no response.  I'm out of options at this point.  This device was purchased in October 2025 (5 months ago).  How can I get some assistance?
