Selling packages with payment via Square Terminal

I might be overlooking something really obvious but I can’t figure out how to sell a massage client a new package when they will be paying via our Square Terminal (without double counting the sale if I put it in as a custom amount and check out the package separately on my laptop/phone via dashboard or appointments app) 

 

Is there no way for my other staff member to add a package to the customer’s profile via the terminal which is what they use for all sales?

Hi @AnnaBYLY , thanks for posting your query 🙂.

 

Your packages are available for checkout on the Terminal, in the Library tab. To add a package to a sale and add it to one of your customers' profile :

  1. From your Square Appointments POS app, navigate to Checkout.
  2. Tap Packages, then select a package to add to the basket.
  3. From the Current sale screen, tap Add a customer.
  4. Choose a customer to add to the sale, then tap Charge to complete the transaction.

You'll see the available package when navigating to the customer's profile. To redeem the package, simply follow the steps outlined in this support article

We’ve had to return to the Retail POS settings as we don’t have all the functionality we need in the shop via the appointments POS. 

So the current situation is that every now and then when someone wants to buy a new package after their massage, I’m having to:

- log out of the retail POS

- log in to the appointment POS

- check out the package

- log back out of the appointment POS

- log back in to the retail POS so it’s ready for other staff to check out on 

 

The ability to adjust prices there in the sale is the main thing we’re finding we can’t manage without from the retail POS. But difference in the search functionality is another issue. 

Will packages be made available to check out via the Retail POS at any point? I can’t be the only square customer paying for both Retail and Appointments 😂

My terminal doesn’t look like that. It’s set up to a retail profile and I can’t see anywhere to access appointments on it at all?

Never mind - I’ve reset the terminal and got the appointments set up on it instead. Hopefully it will still work well enough for the retail side of things too!

Just want to say thanks and that whatever update the terminal has had since Monday has fixed this issue! I can now switch between modes without having to log in again every time and can sell packages without an issue!

 

(I complain quite a bit about the things I think Square should be able to do and can’t, so I thought it would be good to come and be positive about when thing are adjusted for other people searching for things they need)
