Pricing modifications

Is there a way to set a modification or variant that deducts an amount instead of adding it?

Or a drop down so the item they add to their cart is that of the cheaper option?

Example: I sell badge reels and want to make it so they can choose to only purchase the design and not the reel. 

I do not want to make my main price that of just the design(it's a pain when I'm doing shows).

You can create an Item Reel with Badge for $20 for example, Then have variations and sell just the Badge for $5.00.

Or you could create an Item Reel Badges with a drop down of all your badges that are the same price.

I created and Item of 10 inch tapers for example with variations by Color.  For these I sell them at about $1.49 but my Metallic colors I sell at $1.99 each.... If I have a Metallic color as a Variation I can enter the Price for that variation only.  Just make sure it has a different SKU for when the price is calculated.

Do you know if there is a way to add these options to existing items?

I got it to work for a new item, but the options section is gone on older listing. I have over 300 items, I really don't want to to relist everything 😫

Options are a separate List.  You create an Option List to quickly Modify items such as T-Shirts for Sizes.  The Options List creates these Variations Quickly.   So if you used Options to Create a Variation you would need to add the Option to your Options list and add it to the Item.   If I have 18 Options in 1 list.... I can select say 10 of them to add to a New Item before I make all 18 options.

Now if you created Variations on your own without using the Options feature you should be able to go down in the Item and add the Variation.

If you goto your Square Dashboard - Items -

Then open the item you need to create a Variation for...

Scroll down on the Screen -- Past the Items pricing you will see Add Options -  keep Scrolling Then you will see Create Variation.

Candlestore is nailing it. I think for your case, you want to do Create Variation. It's below Unit Cost on the dashboard. 

Name the Variation "Design Only", set the cost at $0 (probably), set the price, and you're golden.
