Payroll Pending 2 weeks in a row 2 employees

I have processed payroll several times with no issues. The last two times I have had two employees who did not receive their direct deposit. Payroll was submitted successfully and the money was removed from my account. However, it is still pending and they have not been paid.

Hi there @HMC3.. I can only speak from my experiences here as a Square payroll user.  This has happened a handful of time.  Each time, there was a problem at the employee's bank.  The account was deactivated somehow.  Or the ACH deposit was rejected for different reasons.  Etc.  In each case, the bank rejected the deposit, which started the process of it being sent back to Square via ACH.  As you can imagine, this is not a quick process -- on the order of a few business days each way.  Then, after Square receives the funds back, they have to figure out what went wrong, deposit the money in our bank accounts so that we can pay the employees manually.

But, during the back-and-forth process there is no communication.  The bank doesn't tell Square (or the employees, usually) the money is coming back.  Square can't know anything is wrong until they actually receive the funds along with the error codes.  Most likely, that is what is going on here.  If so, you'll hear something from Square for week #1 pretty soon and hopefully you and/or the employees can correct the issue, whatever it is.  Then it will probably be a few days before week #2 funds (and reasons) get back to you after Square receives those.

I will say that in all of these cases, I was in a cash position to go ahead and get my employees' money to them (via paper check) and then just wait for the funds to be returned to me by Square.  Hopefully, this is the case for you, too.
